Maxxis mountain bike tires are some of the best designed tires in the industry. As an example, the Minion DHF has been a base design for many other tires, even ones not being made by Maxxis. They come in a variety of tread compounds, side wall configurations, and sizes so you can find the perfect tire for your riding style and dirt conditions. We prefer the MaxxGrip compound so we can maximize the amount of grip on steep and loose descents. The EXO+ sidewall protection is a good balance between weight and durability. While we prefer that combo, you may or may not prefer that combo as well. The Assegai is one of our favorite front tires on the market. It is a very predictable front tire with taller side nobs, center knobs similar to the DHF, and a transition knob between the two to make the transition into a turn seamless. The Shorty is our preferred Winter tire since it has tall knobs to help penetrate the mud and slop. The Dissector makes an excellent rear tire along with the Minion DHR II.
